About Neil West

6 Films was recently set up by Neil West as a vehicle through which to produce independent films with a range of storytellers.

Neil is a film director working in feature films, television and commercials. He currently has a feature film - CONTAINMENT - available on NETFLIX in the UK. His work has played around the world and won several international awards.

Neil was Trained by acclaimed film director Ken Russell and mentored by Elen Bowman of Living Pictures.

His 30 minute drama UNDERTOW was featured by Peter Bradshaw - The Guardian’s chief film critic - on his Cannes Film Festival blog. Neil’s feature film, CONTAINMENT, received widespread acclaim in the Mainstream press on its nationwide theatrical release.

Recent projects as Producer include THE MONSTER IN THE BED starring Tracey-Ann Oberman, Timothy West and Annette Badland and GIRL TUESDAY - an award winning comedy about love and missed opportunities.

As writer/director Neil recently made CHASM an experimental film about the work of British Sculptor Tom Stogdon. The film was a Semi Finalist in the Academy Award qualifying Flickers Rhode Island International Film Festival and won best experimental short at the Switzerland International Film Festival.

Shortly after Chasm Neil wrote and directed ASYLUM - A dystopian thriller about a woman who risks everything to try and protect an asylum seeker in a totalitarian society. The film has won awards in direction, writing, cinematography, acting and sound design.

In 2022 Neil wrote and directed a mockumentary HEY PINKY and most recently CHIMERA, which is playing at film festivals around the world. Chimera is a proof of concept for Upcoming feature film - PINWHEEL - which has been written by CONTAINMENT screenwriter David Lemon and is being produced by OSCAR winning producer, Julie Foy.

Neil is also currently developing a science fiction television series with writer/director Dan Turner entitled THE SALESMAN and shooting an as yet untitled feature film in May 2025 in the Scottish highlands
